FALL 2020 CLASS SCHEDULE
1st-2nd Graders. (6-8 years)
3rd-4th Graders. (8-10 years)
5th-6th Graders. (10-12 years) For dancers who might be new to dance and need a breakdown of basic dance technique and terminology.
7th-8th Graders (12-14 years). For dancers who are familiar with basic drill team/dance technique and terminology but still need instruction on how to execute movement correctly. Classes are moderately paced.
9th Graders and above (14+ years). For dancers who are ready for a challenging, fast-paced class setting. Classes are rigorously taught and require high energy and advanced technical skills. Dancers are expected to have mastered all basic dance movement before enrolling in this level.
Dancers will learn classic ballet terminology and technique. Ballet is the foundation of dance and will be necessary for successfully executing proper technique in other dance styles.
Dancers will learn movement that includes foundational technique elements used in all styles of dance. Building upon the foundation of technique built in ballet, Jazz incorporates more advanced movement, skills, tricks, and up-beat and fun music based on class level.
This class is all about having FUN! Dancers get to move and groove to fun, fast-paced movement. Technical elements are kept to a minimum and dancers are encouraged to feel the music and let loose!
This class focuses solely on perfecting turning skills. Students will refine the strength, flexibility, and technique needed to perfect challenging turns and ultimately incorporate them into choreography. Some of the skills covered include: pirouettes, coupes, and turns in second and more.
LEAPS & JUMPS TECHNIQUE
This class focuses solely on perfecting jumps and leaps skills. Students will refine the strength, flexibility, and technique needed to perfect challenging leaps and jumps and ultimately incorporate them into choreography. Some of the skills covered include: toe touches, axel jumps, calypso jumps, jete leaps, switch leaps, russian leaps, and more.
This class is for dancers interested in auditioning for the Highland Belles drill team. Drill team elements taught include flexibility, high kicks, skills, and jazz, pom, and kick choreography. This class is the most well rounded option for dancers who are interested in learning the “Belle style.”
STRETCH & HIGH KICK
This class focuses 50% on pure flexibility, and 50% on high kick technique, strength, and stamina.
This class is a full hour of instructor-led flexibility training. Instructors lead in stretching exercises while critiquing and correcting form to maximize efficiency and to target certain muscle groups to improve in specific dance skills. Dancers who have tight muscles and difficulty with turn out would benefit greatly from this class.
This class serves as a basic intro to beginning acrobatics. Students will learn flexibility and strengthening techniques that will serve as the foundation for more advanced acro skills such as aerials, walkovers, and complex floor work.
This class combines conditioning, interval training, weight lifting, stretching, yoga, and barre elements. Dancers will learn proper exercise technique, specific muscle groups, nutritional information, and the importance of overall health.
